Babel Projects, trading as Fileworks, has a long standing relationship with Network Rail and has delivered many projects over the years, particularly through the filing and storage wing of the business.
Most recently, the team have been engaged in planning a major transition for c 4,000 people at head office ‘The Quadrant’ in Milton Keynes. The scope of the project covered a building wide restack, including space and occupancy planning, furniture reconfiguration and storage audit. In addition, a major refresh on the organisations’ agile working practices was required, including behaviour change strategy, communications campaign, development of etiquettes, and support and training for managers / local champions.
The team conducted detailed interviews with key stakeholders to ensure they fully understood the unique space, occupancy, equipment and adjacency requirements for each function. They also reviewed the status of agile working in each area to gain a clear sense of the challenges and concerns in play. Four focus groups were also organised to inspire cross-departmental discussions around the benefits of agile working, potential concerns and solutions. A online survey was also developed which gathered attitude and behavioural insights to be used to inform the approach and also provide a baseline measure against which to evaluate the success of the project later down the line.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic has placed this work on hold currently, Babel completed the diagnostics and planning phase of this project, delivering a number of restack floor plan and costing options; a comprehensive report of the findings; strategic recommendations and action plan ready for implementation phase.
