Workplace Environment is key to Employee Wellbeing

Many organisations still believe that wellbeing is about providing fresh fruit and yoga classes to their staff, and counselling services for when things get tough. However, as defined by the Health & Safety Executive, the key sources of stress at work are well known as job demands, lack of autonomy, relationships, role clarity and the management of change. If organisations are serious about their employee wellbeing, they should be using preventative strategies to tackle these sources of stress. This excellent article in Harvard Business Review highlights these issues and shines a spotlight on what leaders should be doing to ensure the management culture and workplace environment allows their people to flourish.
